Investing in the Future of Podiatry

Bako is proud to host a two-week mini-fellowship experience encompassing clinico-pathologic correlation of skin, nail, bone and soft tissue of the lower extremity at our laboratory facility in Alpharetta, Georgia. Bako is pleased to partner with the Bako Medical Education Foundation which provides funding for this unparalleled experience for future podiatric practitioners.

The two-week mini-fellowship includes:

  • Formal arrangements easily arranged with home hospitals when required
  • Direct Dermatopathologist/pathologist interaction for both case review and clinico-pathologic correlation in all aspects of podiatric pathology
  • Access to a broad spectrum of teaching materials (clinical images, teaching sets, reading materials)
  • Overview of laboratory operations including anatomic pathology specimen processing, intricacies of bacteriology/mycology, and more
  • Learning about basic lab operations to include grossing slide preparation, mycology and bacteriology
  • Exposure to specialized techniques including molecular diagnostics and epidermal nerve fiber density analysis
  • Complimentary luxury town home accommodations, lunches, and travel stipend

    Our mini-fellowship provides podiatric physician-residents with an educational experience that will be unmatched and serve as the cornerstone for their practice of podiatric dermatopathology over the course of their careers.

    We seek self-motivated residents with an interest in dermatology. Acceptance is based on the strength of the Residency Director’s letter of recommendation, with priority given to senior residents. Calendar slots for this much-sought-after program fill quickly, so apply now!
